Cool kicks are the last word in fashion right now but with giant sports brands Nike and Puma lining up up to release the next luxury sneakers, it was only a matter of time before luxury designers capitalised on the niche opportunity. Tom Ford’s new line of sneakers offers a refreshing take on the sneaker trend for men. Devoid of flashy colors and attention grabbing graphics, the sneakers are as alluring and sophisticated as the designer himself.
The fashion line consists of 12 styles that come in high and low top styles and boast a variety of colors and materials. The luxe materials used include supple leather and soft velvet and colors range from deep blood reds to classic browns and blacks. We can imagine that sneaker savvy icons of the calibre of Justin Timberlake, John Legend and Frank Ocean who personify its relaxed elegance will be attracted to the new line. We hope so anyway!
Considering that a small leather wallet from Tom Ford retails for as much as $890, the sneakers priced between $690 and $990 are not that exorbitant, the velvet shoes fall at the lower end of that range while the leather high-tips are the most expensive pair in the collection. The full collection will not be available in stores until the Fall season, but some styles have been made available on the Tom Ford website.
