7 Restaurants 7 Days – An Ibizan Culinary Tour

Sunshine. Sea. Atmosphere. These are three things that have always been a guarantee on a luxury villa holiday in Ibiza. Less celebrated, but equally impressive is the gastronomic scene. The island has become a haven for food lovers offering restaurants which range from the Michelin starred to the local Chiringuito, which only serves the catch of the day. With this in mind, there is plenty to discover during a week-long holiday on the island, so without further ado, we look into a restaurant for every day of your White Isle experience.

Heart Ibiza Terrace - Culinary Experience

Day 1: Heart Ibiza, Ibiza Town

This brand new restaurant for 2015 is a new offering from the Adrià brothers, the creative genii behind the one-time world’s most exclusive restaurant, elBulli, on the Costa Brava near Barcelona. After taking a short break upon the closing of the aforementioned elBulli, the two brothers are back and set to take their magic to Ibiza. Located in the iconic Ibiza Grand Hotel, Ferran and Albert Adrià have teamed up with the Cirque du Soleil, to “see what happens when food, music and art collide.” Two things we can already guarantee are that the food will be sumptuous and the queues long. It is worthwhile therefore, to start planning this particular night well in advance of your holiday.

Juan y Andrea

Day 2: Juan y Andrea, Formentera

Located on the island of Formentera, a short but beautiful boat ride away from Ibiza, lies Juan y Andrea, a restaurant which claims to be on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. The restaurant first opened in 1972 as a bar, a collaboration between couple Juan and Andrea, who since passed the reins onto their three sons. Given its proximity to the sea, it is little surprise that the speciality is seafood. Guests are encouraged to start with clams, fresh prawns and grilled sardines, all served with a fantastic view of clear Mediterranean waters. Main courses vary between fish and meat, however the lobster is superb and can be eaten grilled or in paella. To finish off a special meal at Juan y Andrea, guests from mainland Ibiza enjoy the stunning boat ride back.

Lio Ibiza

Day 3: Lio Ibiza, Ibiza Town

Mixing food with entertainment. Lio Ibiza is the island’s primary cabaret show and brings a new meaning to the idea of evening entertainment. With a stunning location and view over Ibiza Town, Lio offers both an incredible gourmet menu and incredible fun. Head over to their website to make a booking and decide which of their various nights will be most suitable for you and your group.

El Chiringuito

Day 4: El Chiringuito, Es Cavellet

Situated on the Playa Es Cavellet and with the sole intention of creating simple, honest food in a relaxing environment, El Chiringuito is the perfect place to come for a chilled out meal. It is the ultimate relaxing beach restaurant, but also provides a warm welcome and has fantastic service. In addition to its lovely seafood, El Chiringuito also doubles up as a beach club with children’s activities.

Es Torrent

Day 5: Es Torrent, Porroig

Also situated on the waterfront is Es Torrent, a charming seafood restaurant near Porroig on the south west of the island. The restaurant has become renowned for the quality of its food alone. The décor is simple and rustic, but it serves the freshest fish and seafood and is easily among the top fish restaurants on the island. The restaurant is open every day between 27th March and the end of October.

Sunset Ashram Beach Bar

Day 6: Sunset Ashram, San Josep de sa Talaia

For a restaurant with a view, there are not many better than Sunset Ashram on Ibiza’s west coast. As the name suggests, it is the ideal location to kick back and enjoy the sunset. What finer way to enjoy the stunning views than with some incredible food. The atmosphere is laid-back and the entertainment comes in the form of live DJ sets every day of the week.

Day 7: Fish Shack, Talamanca

The fish shack is simplicity defined. There is no set menu and you eat what has been caught that day, a throwback to the bohemian atmosphere of 1960s and 70s Ibiza. If you are looking for a relaxed, local cuisine this is the perfect spot to enjoy the White Isle’s best produce and reflect back on a week of incredible cuisine.
