Luxury shopping site Net-a-porter.com is launching a new social network for fashion fans in the know.
‘The Net Set’ is an app that aims to reunite the fashion and shopping communities online, including consumers, stars, style leaders, curators, designers and brands. It will give users the chance to share their style, their loves and their inspirations, as well as shop online.
Built for the iPhone, iPad and the Apple Watch, it is the group’s first attempt to blend social media and shopping.
The app features a live feed of the luxury fashion items and content trending across the globe and lets users upload and share items and images that define their style, as well as creating personal “love lists”.
Each user creates their own profile but can also join “Style Tribes”, a set of user-curated clubs that group themed content, products and brands around personal tastes, such as Monochrome, Double Denim and Rock Chic. Brands will also be able to post content, comment on and ‘love’ products, join tribes and admire other users and labels.
One of the main features is “the Style Council”, an invitation-only group of style experts and icons that will be on hand to help users in real time, as though they were shopping together.
The app will also provide global overnight delivery of over 350 fashion collections to 170 countries, plus same-day delivery in Manhattan, London and Hong Kong.
“The rise of social media and style blogs has shown that women around the world are inspired by each other’s style and their closets,” says Natalie Massenet, Founder and Executive Chairman of the group. “The Net Set is to mobile in 2015 what net-a-porter.com was to desktop in 2000.”
The Net Set will be available across iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch and will launch initially with an invite code from May 13, 2015.
