Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort Launches a new era of marinas

Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort Marina - Legatto Lifestyle

On Friday, a new marina opened alongside the Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort in Halkidiki, Greece. Located on the east coast of Kassandra, Halkidiki, the new marina is set to be able to accommodate a total of 81 boats – each up to 40 meters long. All boats docked at the marina will be offered individual and high-quality mooring including launching ramp, 24-hour security and manning across 50,000 square meters of the marina.

The marina’s design was influenced by results from a study on winds and currents by academics from Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece. When designing the marina, the main focus was how to reduce environmental impact. According to Boat International, the marina is designed to maximise water circulation and keep bacteria development to the minimum. It has been called “one of the most advanced marinas of its kind”. The new marina was also designed deep enough for superyachts to moor right up to the hotel ensuring easy and flexible access. It will also host a seafood restaurant and a café.

Yachting & Boating world revealed that “The marina boasts two “bridge type” jetties. At 110 metres long, the jetty connecting the berthing area to the shore is the longest of its kind in Greece. These two jetties are designed so the water in the marina is self-circulating and self-cleaning. It also aims to minimise swell and the swing of the yachts moored. The marina also offers  water service pedestals, a pump out station, Wi-Fi and a petrol and diesel gas station.

Konstantinos Dedes, the marina manager, spoke to SuperyachtNews.com. He said, “In terms of long-term berthing, the interest from superyachts is quite small, as the marina does not have nearby shipyards or a network of local yachting expertise. For short term berthing our main strategy is to develop the marina as a hub for superyachts in order to embark and/or disembark their guests using the marina’s facilities, and making use of our transfer services or helipad to be taken to Thessaloniki’s airport. We have developed a wide range of products and services specifically designed for superyacht guests, meaning they can use the spa and have a relaxing interval between their destinations.”

Another spokesman for the marina said, “Marina Miraggio is one of the best technologically advanced sea developments in Greece because of its overall architecture, positioning and modern engineering methods used for the design and construction of it, even at the primary stages of the design.”
