One in ten people living in Europe are planning to go on holiday this summer, according to a new survey published this month.

The poll carried out by Ipsos for insurers Europ Assistance revealed that 60 per cent of those questions said they planned to, or had already booked their summer holiday.

This statistic comes after ‘three years of decline or stagnation’, with a six per cent increase on the number of people taking holidays in 2015 than in the previous year.

Europeans are also spending more on holiday, too with the average holiday budget increasing to 2,390 euros – some 180 euros more than last year, the survey also revealed.

Not surprisingly the dream destination is still the sea, in resorts such as Saint Tropez, with 62 per cent of those interviews saying they planned a beach holiday this year.
