20th Annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance to Celebrate Stirling Moss’ Mercedes-Benz Mille Miglia Winner 722

To celebrate two decades of automotive design and competition excellence, the 20th Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance will reprise the founding event of 1996 with the return of its first honoree, Sir Stirling Moss, OBE.

This is the 60th anniversary of Moss’ record setting victory in the Mille Miglia and the dual Formula 1 and Sports Car World Championships of Mercedes-Benz. To celebrate Stirling’s illustrious career, the 20th annual Amelia will feature an unparalleled 20-car class of his famous racers.

Long considered the greatest sports car racer of all time, Sir Stirling scored every Mercedes-Benz victory during the 1955 World Sports Car Championship season. It started in May with his legendary triumph in the epic 1,000 mile lap of Italy, the punishing Mille Miglia. Sixty years later that record still stands.

“We intend to make the 20th anniversary Amelia Concours an unforgettable event…Sir Stirling will be reunited with the 722 on our 20th anniversary field on Sunday morning, March 15, 2015. This will be the first time in more than a decade that Sir Stirling will drive 722 in America. We expect he’ll launch us to a few more successful decades with a historically significant selection of 20 of his victorious Grand Prix and sports cars for our 20th anniversary concours.” said Bill Warner, Founder and Chairman of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

The 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance will be held March 13-15th on the 10th and 18th fairways of The Golf Club of Amelia Island at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island.  The show’s Foundation has donated over $2.5 million to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Inc. and other charities on Florida’s First Coast since its inception in 1996.  Since its founding, the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance has grown from a successful regional concours to an award-winning international event ranked at the top of the worldwide concours constellation.
