Smythson names owner Jacques Bahbout new CEO

Smythson2aL (1)Jacques Bahbout has been made Smythson’s new CEO and will replace Andy Janowski. Janowski, former chief operations officer at Burberry was appointed in May 2012. Prior to Burberry, he was vice president of production and supply chain at Gap, and before that at Banana Republic where he began his career in 1989. After the recent birth of his twins he is leaving Smythson, having already resigned before Christmas last year.

Owner Mr Bahbout said:”I would like to thank Andy for the work achieved over the last year, helping to lead the transformation of Smythson into a truly luxury leather goods specialist and strengthening the foundation which will allow Smythson to continue double-digit growth and expand into new markets.”  Rory O’Hanlon, former Coach employee, remains design director.

The brand has significantly expanded, also joining the London Fashion Week schedule for the very first time in September 2013 and opening a flagship store on Sloane Street last January. Stars sporting the luxury leather brand include Kate Bosworth, Florence Welch and Miranda Kerr. The luxury leather goods and stationery label is aiming to expand even more in the coming years and become a global luxury brand.
