One to Watch: Alexandre Delima
The Peru born, French-American designer, Alexandre Delima has burst onto the fashion scene with his first collection. The collection ranges from daytime apparels to grand gala evening wear designed with variants on 14 silhouettes. The result is a mature well-orchestrated collection with an excellent spring-board to becoming a household name in the creative and dynamic world of French fashion.
An insight to the mind behind the designs illustrates that Alexandre takes inspiration when constructing his collection from the realm of hip-hop as well as SCI-films and his tenure as a DJ.
‘Energy and a feline quality represent the very essence of the eternal feminine ideal, and my vision of it.’
Alexandre makes okay with effects of transparency/opacity, matt/shiny and constructed fluidity. He uses a strongly constructing palette ranging from optic white, off-whites, anthracite, black and coal. His work features mechanical, Calder-like geometry in metal blue plaque embroidery and broadly-sketched cuts. Rigid and jointed belts/corsets in fine gold plated brass or tortoise shell.
