Ferrari Celebrating 60 Years in America with the Limited Edition F60America

Mic-check, mic-check. Ladies and Gentlemen, to celebrate Ferrari’s 60th’s Diamond Anniversary of being in the U.S.A., we unveiled to you, Ferrari’s limited edition F60America.

Inspired by the 1950s and 60s tradition of producing strictly limited edition, built-to-order cars, Maranello once again demonstrates why they are one of the best in the industry for bringing together design and performance under one roof. In this instance, even without a roof! The new car combines the V12 engine and open-top driving – and is being unveiled at an anniversary celebration gala dinner at Beverly Hills City Hall.

In keeping with the deca-theme, the F60America’s price tag of $2.5-million showcases a  bodywork that adopts the classic North American Racing Team livery, as well as a special Ferrari 60th anniversary Prancing Horse badge on the wheel arches which also appears on the tunnel in the cabin. The front of the car is dominated by the classic Ferrari single front grille with chrome finish.

Two Great Passions. One Great Car.

Built to bring the delights of a V-12 engine and open-top driving, which Ferrari states are its U.S. clientèle “two great passions,” the F60 America is roofless, the better to display a pair of leather-trimmed roll hoops that flow into carbon-fibre-trimmed flying buttresses, my dear. Ferrari says owners can fit a light fabric top that’s usable at speeds of up to approximately 75 mph. The front-mid-mounted V-12 is likely unchanged from the 730-hp unit in the F12 and can, Ferrari says, propel the F60 from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds.

“The powerful mid-front-mounted V12 and specific gear ratios underscore the F60America’s wonderfully sporty character. The F60America’s personality is instantly clear from its flanks which are characterised by an innovative diapason design theme.”

The cabin’s asymmetrical design highlights the driver’s area with sporty red trim, while the passenger side is black, inspired by the historic Ferrari competition cars. The cabin trim is exclusive with the dash, tunnel and door panels on the driver’s side all swathed in composite materials. The racing seats also feature a stylised American flag motif on the centre of each seat and backrest. The stunningly elegant and unique F60America has enthralled US collectors and all 10 examples have already been snapped up unfortunately. However, for us, what’s left is to celebrate Ferrari’s Diamond Anniversary. 60 years of ingenuity in the U.S.A. and counting.
